Can’t Believe My Luck …..

This would be no more nor less typical of reams of my travel tales I relate though not near as often as I might have in the past, be that fortunate or not . The three hour extremely early morning trip into the nightmarish traffic that surrounds the Miami International Airport was relatively smooth if that statement could be honestly made. Likewise the check in at the airport which no longer permits online departure check ins for the destination I headed for ,

Seven hours from the time we woke that morning  found the wife and I finally seated in our assigned seats on that southbound jet airliner . As we were seated in the very last row at the back of the plane we were pleasantly surprised that some airlines have finally figured it out and have people assigned to seats in the rear of the aircraft board first and so it was an easy sprint down the aisle with the ability to quickly stow our carry on items and await departure.

While the wife entertained herself with the goings on outside from her window seat I watched from my center seat all the other passengers board until every single seat was filled but one . That seat being the aisle seat next to me and I just couldn’t believe my luck … I mean I’m just never that fortunate . Everyone got their gear stowed and settled in and then it happened, the almost late arrival of one last passenger and as he made his appearance I couldn’t help but utter numerous un repeatables barely under my breath.

The largest man at Miami International Airport boarded my plane to take the last remaining seat right next to me. Three and a half hour flight with half a human body draped over my arm rest and a penchant for snoring ….. And I still can’t believe my luck
