Did ya know that here in Florida the study of the Holocaust is “mandatory” in the public school system ? Mandatory …. and I’d say being allowed to even mention that hated word in Florida to be pretty amazing as the word is so disliked . I’m sure it to be soon banned from any and all dictionaries used in the state , but we were talking of learning about the Holocaust weren’t we ?
Considering what is going on around me here in Florida at the moment I’m kind of believing the story to be worthy of a lesson and should be part of the schools lesson plan . But there is that fly in the ointment isn’t there, there always is . Like Moms for Liberty . It’s at this point we should be expecting them to start crying this is indoctrination and how no particular race should be made to feel responsibilty or guilt for sins of the past . But that is unlikely for whatever reason .
Should this indoctrination continue I think fair is fair and Mom’s for Liberty would have a point as we wouldn’t want any of our citizens of German descent to feel guilt for the past . It’s quite obvious any mention of the Aryan race henceforth should be referred to as ….”certain people”. Maybe that’s backwards , maybe it’s the Jews who should be called “certain people” in the lesson plan …..
Now I’m confused again .
I’ve never felt guilt or shame about the wrongs of my ancestry or its past history before my time though it seems important that someone is making political issue out of protecting me from it . However I have no problem in recognizing the wrongs of the past and with that in mind I must say I do feel a little shame over the present …..
We should never allow the story of Rosa Parks to simply become just a story of a lady on a bus
