Sold ….

What’s a memory worth to you is somewhat of an odd question I suppose but …. how much would you pay for one and what would you accept for one of yours ?

I’ve recently been told by someone I know that I let my memories go cheap after I told him what I’d just done …

” How could you sell that , have you no respect ? ” It was obvious he was slightly irritated and had no understanding that the new owner of my memory might be as thrilled to have it as I am to part with it .

For close to 49 years I owned a copy of the 1973 Cruise Book of the U.S.S. John F Kennedy CVA 67 . It’s a pictorial souvenir showing most of the crew and their life on an aircraft carrier along with all the places it visited half way round the globe . The book explained things pertaining to its mission that was permissible to explain and ignored things that weren’t and I suppose there are those that might find it an interesting perusal .

I had tried to sell the book on Ebay twice in the past with no takers until a recent third attempt when someone deemed the “Buy it Now ” price of $150 a worthy exchange for a memory . It’s possible the buyer was a crew member way back then and I do so hope he finds good value in it’s pages . What could be disrespectful about that ?

I have memories that couldn’t be traded at any cost but this one is different you see as I’m thinking that with $150 I could easily buy a better one .
