I thought it amazing that while collecting the highest rewards and dividends in history American stock holders and investors could have so easily been talked into the belief they were getting ripped off. The whole world was taking advantage of the United States both friends and foe alike and they were taking a screwing . Being gullible damn near cost them everything .
I first visited Colombia in 1989 and walked the very streets of the neighborhood in which I now own a home . Literally walked the streets as there were few vehicles on the roads at that time to hinder pedestrians and kids played in them with out fear as the large open air busses that occasionally lumbered along were easy to avoid. Things always change and now incredible amounts of fast moving motorcycles and cars on those once vacant streets have forced walkers to stick strictly to the side walks. The newfound ability to afford personal transportation has changed South America forever and that change has required some needs be met.
Recently on my last visit there a new highway opened up not too far away complete with a tunnel through a mountain that successfully eased traffic elsewhere . It made travel to other parts quicker and safer , helped business’ large and small . It provides easier access to numerous other large infrastructure projects that are under way all the while providing employment to many who are quite happy to stay right where they are. This highway and tunnel was made possible just as over 100 other large scale infrastructure projects currently underway in Colombia were made possible. Chinese investment … smartest guys in the world.
A few months ago just a few blocks from my Colombian barrio a sign of U.S. investment has appeared though I’m doubtful of it’s ability to make any life changing influence on the Colombian people as the Chinese seem able to do. It’s a KFC … yup, you can now travel all the way to Cartago , Valle del Cauca , Colombia and stuff your face with Kentucky Fried Chicken . You’ll never see me cross its threshold but my interest was peaked enough to ask Google the simple question ….
Do KFC stockholders benefit from expanding to South America and this question brings an instant AI generated overview …
Yes, expanding into South America can benefit Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) stockholders. By building in South America, KFC can increase revenue, potentially leading to higher earnings per share (EPS) and ultimately boosting the stock price. South America is a large and relatively untapped market, offering opportunities for growth and increased brand recognition.
Now to be fair to the American stock investor this certainly does seem a much easier and and safer way to make money than building shipping ports , railways and power grids like the Chinese are doing but I might offer them some advice. Classroom studies of the Mandarin language are springing up all over Colombia so perhaps our U.S. investors might be better served investing in Chinese restaurants in South America instead of KFCs and Micky Ds’.
The Chinese are doing more for America than most would think … before long, all those Mandarin speaking South Americans won’t need to come here anymore and that’s OK, because now we’ll be able to employ all those poor racially discriminated white South Africans to work in all the fast food restaurants we can’t seem to stop building here .
